Heartbreaking Duffy on Wed Mar 26, 2008 6:46 pm

I'd heard her song "Mercy" on the radio, but didn't think much of it. Then I saw her on Jools Holland's Hootenanny at New Year's. Jool's show is always great, and it's changed my perspective on loads of musicians over the years. It's such an intimate venue, I'd love to go to it some year but I'm guessing the waiting list is years long.

...back to Duffy. I came across this video:

and it really sums up the heart and soul she puts into her voice. There's a hint of country, Dolly Parton, in her style, but much more soulful. Have a listen.

Kaki King on Tue Mar 04, 2008 11:46 am

Maybe I'm just behind the times, but I just discovered Kaki King, on YouTube actually. Very impressive stuff, a very different style. Most of her music tends to have a jazzy tinge to it.

I'll let you make your mind up...
here's her most popular song:

and an amazing live performance at the Meridian:

...and it's not all instrumentals either, she has a very timid and tender voice. Have a look!

Enya vs Prodigy on Thu Feb 28, 2008 10:21 am

Man this is twisted. It's like angelic and deamonic music intertwined!
You have to listen to it to get me:
